Inner Harbour
Valletta is perched on a steep peninsula jutting out into Malta's two deep natural harbours, Grand Harbour and Marsamxett Harbour. Founded in 1566, it is an architectural masterpiece and a unique example of baroque architecture. It is the "modern" city built by the Knights of Malta and a World Heritage City. Valletta is also Malta's capital Nowhere in Malta is the life of the Islands reflected more than here. The city is busy by day, yet retains a timeless atmosphere.
